Web Interface Main

Web Interface Main

Web Interface Main setup tab.

This tab contains all the data that is required to successfully allow MyCourts to keep your members informed as to the availability of your facilities in almost real time. Before completing this page we suggest you read the overview of MyCourts Web Interface.

All the fields on this and the Web Interface Options Tab are only available for editing if you click 'Yes' on the 'Web Interface Enabled' field. This is necessary because any information incorrectly entered into any of these fields may (and very likely will) cause MyCourts to cease servicing the Web Interface Service. If MyCourts detects an error then it will automatically disable the Web User Interface and try to advise the administrator as to the reason why. MyCourts will try to advise you of any problems both via the computer at which it is running as well as sending email advices to MyCourts administrator.

If a member has a problem making a booking, either because of their error, or an internal MyCourts error, in addition to the member being advised via email of the problem, the MyCourts administrator will also be advised via email. As far as practical, all errors of this nature will be logged to the log file no matter what level of logging you have selected.

Much of the data required is of a technical nature and you may require the assistance of your IT or Technical Support people to assist you. We have tried to keep technical jargon out of these help files and apologize in advance if we have been unable to do so. If you are having problems then please contact us via email however we are not able to advise you on exactly what data is required in every scenario..

1 . Web Interface EnabledWeb Interface Enabled

You can enable or disable the Web Interface by clicking the Tick/Cross icons.

Selecting Yes will enable you to edit all the fields and options on this Tab as well as the Web Interface Options Tab.

Please note that MyCourts will automatically change this to 'No' should it detect an error in any of the required fields either during configuration or during actual operations.

2 . FTP Server AddressFTP Server Address

Access to the files and data hosted at your web site server is normally via a FTP connection. Most commonly, this is 'ftp.yourDomain.com' but may be different.

3 . FTP DirectoryFTP Directory

MyCourts requires it's own directory on your web server's computer. The directory can be called anything you like.

MyCourts will write files to this directory as follows:

'index.html'

This is the main index or 'home' file and contains some helpful text and a list of all the pages that contain details of each days bookings.

'20080229.html'

Bookings for each day are listed in a html file that is named by the following convention, yyyymmdd.html where yyyy is the year, mm is the month and dd is the day. Hence, the above file will have all the bookings for each facility for the 29th February 2008.

'mailer.php'

This file receives the form data from 20080229.html and sends an email to the MyCourts email address.

[Technical: At version 4.0 of MyCourts, we only support php however we will be adding aspx support in early course. Please contact us via email should you require support for other than php and we will be most pleased to assist.]

6 . MyCourts Email AddressMyCourts Email Address

You will need to arrange with your web or email hosting provider for a separate email address.

This address should not be an 'alias'.

7 . POP3 AddressPOP3 Address

This is the computer address where you will pickup your email from.

It is commonly named pop3.yourDomain.com or mail.yourDomain.com.

8 . SMTP addressSMTP address

The SMTP address of your outbound email server.

This will commonly be smtp.yourDomain.com but may also be mail.yourDomain.com .

You will need to check with your web hosting company for the correct address.

[Technical: Normally outbound emails from your computer are delivered by your computer directly to the mail processing computer of whoever is providing you with your internet connection. This probably won't be the same computer (at least in name) that actually has the authority to send mail from your Club's domain. As you will be sending email from your Club's domain name you will need to be careful that your outbound email is not incorrectly flagged as spam. You will need to discus this with your web hosting provider as they are most frequently also your email hosting provider. Our experience has been that the people providing your internet connection (as distinct from the people hosting your web and email facilities) may give you misleading information in this regard.]

Note: POP3 address and SMTP address are the addresses of the computers that handle your mail. They are not the same as a persons email address. A person's email address will have a '@' in it somewhere whereas a computers address doesn't.

If this field contains any data, then as a minimum, members will need to enter this password on the web form for MyCourts to process their request for a booking.

If 'Force User Password' is enabled, then this password and setting will be ignored.
